After a 20 years career at Coca-Cola and notably being its Marketing Director, Stéphane discovered art through art therapy workshop. But beyond a simple discovery for the one who had never painted before, it was a real revelation. He made contact with painting teachers, taking lessons at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and at the Ecole du Louvre. Three months after starting to paint, Stéphane had his first exhibition in an art gallery in Paris, in the famous 16th district near the Trocadero.

A great admirer of Pierre Soulages and Gerhard Richter, S.Koerwyn develops a fierce desire to create, to give voice to his emotions, and to share them in complete freedom. In order to leave a timeless trace, and give a meaning to his life, he engages in a work of painting, through abstract series, ephemeral expressions.

He draws his inspiration from his emotions that he translates into colors and lives each creation as a unique experience, a journey into the world of the imagination where artistic expression is above all a matter of sensoriality.

In his past professional life, he has seen so many people wearing a mask, so as not to divulge their weaknesses, their flaws. He realized we only display a partial image of ourselves to others.

By becoming an artist, he wanted to drop the pretense, tell the world who he really was, no longer be afraid to show his emotions.

Through this series “Making the invisible visible”, he encourages the revelation of the true self, to embrace our shadows, let go of the veneer, peel each layer to uncover our deepest truth and light.

The canvas is thus torn, poked, stretched to different degrees, to different depths, to reveal the true nature of the canvas, and thus of ourself.

In a quest for interaction with the spectator, the painter will detach himself from the support of the classic canvas and venture on a surface which aspires to its gestures as much as it reflects them: the aluminum.

Always in this research to go beyond the limits of the painting, this self-taught artist, wishes to upset the codes, by developing  a work of sculpture in aluminum.

This new concept, which Stephane Koerwyn calls  “Prêt ART porter” allows him to give life to his works by metamorphosing his paintings made on aluminum sheeting in unique creations taking the appearance of dresses, modern and timeless, worn by models in fashion shows.

S.Koerwyn has participated in several Art Shows in recent years, including Paris, London, Singapore, Dubai, Tokyo, New York, Chicago and Washington DC.

To make a lasting mark, these same one-of-a-kind dresses are magically turned into 3D sculptures, looking like they're floating inside circles.
